Jeff Karena grew up in the Midwest, and has been writing since he was 10 years old, scribbling notes on the daily events of his life in a makeshift journal.  His love of writing grew as a teenager, as did his love of exploration, curiosity and independence, which eventually led him to live in Texas.

The promise of travel convinced Jeff to take a unique regulatory position in Virginia, which opened the door to further exploratory opportunities, and in turn, more people, places and experiences to write about.

Jeff returned to the Midwest in 2019 and continues to explore and write.

​Jeff has an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of North Texas.
